Dear Customer/s,

As you may or may not be aware, Department of Agriculture (DAFF) have recently detected an outbreak of Brown “Marmorated Stink Bugs” in cargo originating from the East Coast of the USA.

The below link lists there information in regards to what has occurred and what there process will be to rectify the problem.

Currently all break bulk consignments arriving into Australian ports are being inspected onboard the vessel before discharge, and then being fumigated once off the vessel. At the moment the treatment and inspections fees are being passed onto the customer. These types of cargo include new and used boats / used cars / machinery and similar products.

DAFF may also move towards mandatory treatment for containerized shipments of the same commodity and if they do we will advise.

DAFF also look like they will implement a mandatory fumigation to be done in the USA prior to shipping for a 2 – 3 month period beginning February 23rd.

We are working with our US partner to work on a plan for pre fumigation and will advise all the necessary costs and procedures once more information has been passed over by DAFF.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our Sydney or Gold Coast office.

Yours Sincerely,

The Car Export America team
