DESCRIPTION:
1942 DeSoto coupe’ deluxe model S-10. Iconic design, with hide-a-way headlights.( Air-Foil headlights ) California car now in upstate New York. Very solid example of a very hard to find vehicle. Body, floors and frame are all excellent.
When I acquired the DeSoto, I repaired the headlights, both the functionality of the headlights and the disappearing aspect of the headlights needed repairing. I rebuilt the carburetor and performed a traditional tune-up, spark plugs and wires, points, ignition cap and rotor, set timing.
I removed and repaired the fluid drive transmission and the overdrive.
The previous owner installed new radial wide white wall tires and they ride beautifully.
Although largely correct, flathead 6 cylinder, fluid drive, etc, like most things the car is not 100% Pure. For example it has been converted to 12 volt, it has a late 1960’s mopar rear differential, the interior is nice, but is a decent approximation of authentic, but not the real McCoy. I have made it a good starting, running , driving and stopping automobile. The chrome is very nice the paint shinny and “cruise night “ quality. It is equipped with newer radial WW tires. The underside is excellent. / good offer
Terry Thanks !
