DESCRIPTION:

1952 MG TD with 1250 CC engine and eight-inch (MG A) clutch. Transmission is original. First gear not synchronized.
Car is located in Naples, FL in Zip 34110.

I purchased the car when it was nearing the end of a rolling restoration. Some of the wooden timbers have been replaced and the car is sound and straight. Doors close confidently. I found no indication that the car was ever wedged or shimmed. Tires are new. New spare. Hub cap for spare.

In the restoration the engine was pulled and all seals replaced so it does not leave oil on the garage floor. The transmission is (I believe) original. It shifts and drives properly but I cannot verify any rebuild during the car’s life. It has been garaged for the last seven months and leaves very little gear lube (Redline MT 90 synthetic) on the garage floor.
The car has been titled in Florida since 2014 under the present and correct chassis number.

Upholstery was redone and is in very good condition. New carpeting.

Wiring harness largely but not completely replaced.

Girling shocks rebuilt. Clutch was replaced with eight-inch friction disc, pressure plate and a new release bearing. Carbs rebuilt. I have synchronized the carbs and the car runs good but may be running rich. The car starts every day without needing to use the choke. Timing set to ten degrees BTDC.

Compression in all cylinders is 140 plus or minus 3. Oil pressure is 50 to 60. Generator has been replaced with an alternator. Starter replaced with high torque unit. Car is converted to negative ground. After market electric fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. It is set to 3PSI which appears to work well.
All lights and horn work. I added turn signals (red) to the rear of the car. They are on a switch on a "sub-dash" so the driver must manually return them to the rest position. Speedometer works but the tach is “ify”. Engine runs quiet but the valve clearance could be touched up. The “king of the road” badges were missing from the car and so I filled the holes in the headlights with turn signal (red) lights which are installed but not wired (see photo). Car was painted but it could use some additional buffing. It looks quite good. Front and rear bumpers are original and show their age.

Frames for top and side curtains are in good condition. But all fabric and vinyl windows require replacing. I have the windscreen wiper motor and it works but it is not installed. All linkage, the motor, and hardware will be provided with the car. I never drive the car in the rain (which, I think, is a common behavior in TD owners) and the motor is just in the way.

The original air filter not available as is shown in the photos. I installed two pot filters and built a modified radiator support for the right side, so as to accommodate the new filters.

I replaced the fuel tank sending unit. It was leaking but now is tight. Side mirrors for windscreen installed and new Hella driving lights installed.

I drive the car about every other day. I tested the car one time at 55 and it does well. Since then I have never driven the car at more than 40 MPH.
The car, owing to its age, will be sold with no warranty. I have described the condition and comprehensively, honestly, and accurately as I am able. I am happy to answer specific questions before the sale via phone at .
