1957 Porsche 356A 1600 Coupe Project
This Porsche 356A coupe was produced on February 27, 1957, and is said to have remained in storage from the mid-1970s through the seller’s purchase in 2025. The non-running project is equipped with a 1.6-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle, and it is finished in metallic blue over two-tone red and black upholstery. Equipment includes dual carburetors, body-color steel wheels, and a cassette stereo.
The Reutter-bodied coupe left the factory in Graphite Metallic and was repainted in metallic blue some time ago. The hood handle and rocker panel trim have been removed. Exterior details include a fender-mounted left mirror, bumper guards, and dual exhaust outlets exiting below the rear bumper. A chip in the windshield, areas of touch-up paint, paint cracks, and other flaws in the finish are shown up-close in the gallery below.
Body-color 15″ ventilated steel wheels are mounted with a mixed set of Goodyear and Hankook tires, while a matching spare wheel wrapped in a whitewall tire is stored in the trunk compartment. The car retains its four-wheel drum brakes, which the seller notes are soft.
The reupholstered cabin houses front bucket seats trimmed in red leatherette with gold piping and black centers that extend to the fold-down rear bench seat. Color-coordinated upholstery accents the doors and red-painted dash, while charcoal squareweave carpets line the floors. Interior appointments include a passenger grab handle, a cassette stereo, and aftermarket speakers mounted in the footwells.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles.
