13000 () If this post is up the car is still available. This low mileage 1985 blue over blue 300TD wagon is a very rare animal.
For sale is my beloved 2-owner 1985 Mercedes 300TD W123 station wagon with 131,000 miles. This car was brought over from Germany by original owner (USAF) in 1986. I purchased from Herb Gorden Volvo in Bethesda in 2010 after it was traded in. This Benz is in amazing shape for its age but is not a show car.
Specs: 3.0-liter OM617 turbodiesel inline-five factory-rated at 123 horsepower. 4 speed automatic transmission.
Idles and drives beautifully. Transmission shifts smoothly.
The cabin is upholstered in blue MB Tex with a matching dash, door panels, and carpeting and wood veneer trim. Amenities include automatic climate control, manual moon roof, 14” Bundt wheels, roof rack (with cross bars!), original Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo, floor mats, and power vacuum windows and locks. (Rear left window opens/closes but is sometimes jumpy.)
Professionally maintained. Most records available. Installed new air-conditioning compressor, control bank, water pump, glow plugs and radiator in 2013.
Body is in excellent shape with few minor exterior chips. There is some cracking in rubber window moldings but no leaks. Rear window was replaced in 2012 but rear wiper not operable.
Other things to note:
Antenna doesn’t fully retract
A few very small rust spots (under front bumper panel, under rear left bumper panel, lower passenger door...each about 1 inch) commensurate with age. They are.not visible on a walk around.
Exhaust had come loose but has been professionally remounted – receipt available
Fading in rear cargo carpet
Rear backup lenses need to be replaced.
A few hairline cracks in the dashboard
Rear wiper motor cover cracked/removed
Could use new wiper blades
Dashboard back lighting needs to be addressed.
Front grille replaced but needs chrome package
Does not have 3rd row seat
Has clear DC title and historic tags.
