2.8 L, VR6 Engine, Automatic Transmission
My husband and I bought “Tilley” in September 2020 during the Covid pandemic to give us the freedom to autonomously travel anywhere with our two dogs. One interesting fact we learned when purchasing Tilley was that her original owner took her to all 50 States…even Hawaii!!
We took full advantage of her versatility traveling all over the East Coast from the white sandy beaches of the Gulf in sunny Florida to the cold rocky shores of Northeastern Maine on the border of Canada. Before we set sail, we had the entire engine pulled and changed/replaced/fixed everything we could by a VW specialist here on Cape Cod to make sure that she was bullet-proof road ready. No expense was spared as evidenced by the long list of repairs and modifications below. This proactive effort paid off with many problem-free journeys over the last four years. The ‘97 was also the first year of the VR6 engine so she had no problem cruising at top speed and taking on any hills we encountered. When not on a journey, we’d often just take advantage of her with simple trips down to the beach to pop the top and enjoy a sunset in comfort. She is like a part of our family and our home away from home. She is also practically a celebrity on the highways with so many people giving us a thumbs up in appreciation of her style and excellent condition!!
But we are ready to move on now and give someone else the chance to love and enjoy Tilley like we did. We will miss her, but have so many awesome memories for which we will be forever thankful.
